Industrial melancholy refracted through trip-hop and shoegaze
THE BLACK WARHOLS sits in the uncomfortable space between nostalgia and reinvention.
Its influences are clear—Massive Attack, Seefeel, Suicide—but Oldham doesn’t imitate them. Instead, he absorbs their emotional vocabulary.
“Screengazer” feels particularly contemporary, reflecting digital alienation through fractured vocal processing and distant, unreachable textures.
Meanwhile, “Choke” injects raw electricity into the album’s otherwise submerged emotional landscape, reminding listeners of Oldham’s industrial roots.
This is introspective electronic music at its most immersive.
Not escapist—but confrontational.
